IF you live in Forest Hill -- there is no alternative for take-out chinese. Silver Palace is hands-down the best. All the people down there in steerage whining about the wait time??? Are you for real? Everything is made to order. The Kitchen is like, 9 square feet. They do everything they can to keep the orders going and they are friendly......oh by the way...the food is spectacular! So zip it. No. I said "Zip it". Here, I'll give you a tip.....(aside from "call ahead and learn some patience, your Mandarin is probably one HELL of a lot worse than her English).....no, i mean a real tippy tip. Something useful. I don't know this for a fact, but I'm presuming that there is a shift change for the cook around 3 PM F.H.S.T. (Forest Hill Standard Time) --- the cook BEFORE 3 PM has a much different definition of "spicy" than the cook after 3PM. So.....if you absolutely HAVE to watch Dr. Phil before getting your awesome Chinese take out....and you roll up at 4PM??? Bring some Tums.

New management ruined this place. Service and quality went down, price went up. They no longer do the little things that made this place special. No more tea bags, very few condiment packets, and only a couple fortune cookies. After going here for close to 15 years, I'm not sure we'll be back.

I love this place! They have fake meat options, so vegans & vegetarians can still enjoy orange chicken.

The reason for the 2 star rating is based on the miserable experience ordering and picking up our food. The only reason it isn't lower is because we really like their food. Each and every time we order, we immediately regret it. The first time we ordered we had to repeat the order several times. The second time we got through the entire order, slowly, then we were passed on to someone else, and then passed on a third time. Each time we said the entire order. I'd understand if we were ordering several items and being picky but we ordered 2 combos and an appetizer. We tried a time after that and told them nevermind after the same passing off experience started. We just picked up an order of 2 crab wontons because I had a craving. Our order was $9.01 and when we went to pick it up, they said that they don't accept credit cards for orders under $10. We ordered over the phone and they didn't tell us this then. Plus, it is my understanding that VISA does not allow this "minimum" charge, you accept it or you don't. I really like their food but I think our strikes are up for Silver Palace and we will go elsewhere.

I only put a two star review mostly to make sure people aren't mislead by the four stars. I stopped in with a friend to try the dim sum and with such a high rating we thought it worth a bit of a drive to try. We should have stuck with a standard or just picked someplace around a lot of other Asian food. Nothing was bad, but nothing was very good or memorable either. Service was fast but I think because the place was mostly empty. Very friendly staff for sure.

It's clean, the food is good, BUT the 5 or so times I've ordered from Silver Palace it's been a frustrating experience. The first and second time I ordered I was given a pickup time of 30 mins. I showed up at pickup time, and proceeded to wait an additional 30 minutes to get my food. Yes it was freshly made, hot and tasty BUT it was irritating. The next two times I let my girl go and pick up the food. Same thing. We waited a year to try again and recently placed an order. The phone attendant said 45 mins (it was a busy time to order). I waited 1 hour and 15 minutes to pick up thinking I'd absolutely avoid the extra wait. Guess what... I waited another 20 minutes. It's a shame because I like their food (I really do) but I can't stand this approach to business. Look I understand you don't want to waste food/money with people not picking up orders BUT what is the point of calling ahead?! I may give them another try after a few months but there has to be others experiencing this... Every time I've went the number of people standing or sitting waiting on food seems to fill their waiting area. So waiting seems to be the norm here. Why is that acceptable? I can only imagine how much business they would do if they lived up to their time frames. Just the food alone deserves some credit so I'll spare giving a 1 star as I hope they get their act together. Silver Palace is a carry out only food business. So you think the Food and Service would make or break them. The good news is the food is working BUT the service is lacking big time.

I've enjoyed the best Chinese carry-out food from Silver Palace for years. It is well worth any wait. If you'd wise up, you'd order way ahead instead of complaining about the wait. Actually, in recent times, orders have been available in short order. Still I call ahead and tell them what time I'll be there and my order has always been ready. The food and the service are superior. The veggie low-mean is my favorite and there is nothing better than their wonton soup on a cold night. I've never eaten anything from Silver Palace that I didn't like... a lot! Silver Palace is a family run business. It is very obvious that a whole lot of effort goes in to providing a clean facility and delicious food. I drive past several Chinese food carry-out places on my way to Silver Palace. Silver Palace is THE BEST in Harford County. Thank you Silver Palace! I'd give you 10 stars if I could.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
